Install the transponder holder in your car at a maximum height of 15 cm (6 inches) above the ground. The temperature range of the transponder is 0 to 50 �C (32 to 122 �F). The RC4 Hybrid transponder can be used both indoors and outdoors. The transponder is shock and waterproof and will withstand rough conditions and can be used for model boats as well. Older timing systems installed on tracks are no problem for the RC4 Hybrid; it is also compatible with RC2 and RC3 systems. Transponders are maintenance-free, but they can get dirty over time. You can clean your transponder by removing it from its holder and using a soft brush and lukewarm water.

If you do a variety of timed activities, this hybrid transponder should work for you. Before buying be sure to double check with your track or event coordinator. I use mine for radio controlled racing - and the two wire hybrid (the other has 3 wires) is the one I needed.

The indoor track I race my short course truck at offers these for rent on race nights, but often there would be too many folks needing to rent and we might need to share. Also, the track timer works even for practice, so owning one just started to make sense: save the rental fee, not have to swap with another driver between heats, and have lap time info during practice sessions.

Please note: the transponder does NOT keep or transmit the time. It simply carries a unique code that the facility detects at the start finish line. Without the "loop" and timing system, the transponder won't do anything for you.

Another important consideration - these transponders have been going up in price pretty regularly for the past couple of months so if you're on the fence and it's compatible with your system, I would encourage making the leap.

The product was not available through Prime, but Hoerr Racing had the factory packaging well packed and everything arrived in tip top shape and on time. It is the most expensive shipping I've ever heard of for something so small and light - not a knock on the seller as they were the same as ordering from the manufacturer direct. Why create another account when there's Amazon!
