Made of app. 2mm steel, nicely coated. I am sure it will resist rusting for many years. Comes with five wheels, but there are holes for a sixth wheel in the center piece as well, so you can buy an extra wheel and support the middle of it. However I am 200 pounds and I tried to bounce stepping on the middle, it did not even flex. The bolts go in real tight, but at least I know they will never become loose. There are little bumps of the bolt heads that the barrel comes into contact with, but not a problem. There is about 8 mm free space between the side and the barrel. Slides nice and smooth without any resistance when empty, but also requires little effort to move a full barrel around my basement. I have my water filtration system in one corner and wanted to store the barrels in another corner. These wheels solved the problem. Note, there are no breaks on the wheels, so if you live in earthquake prone area you may need to tie your barrels to a wall or lock your wheels with some wooden sticks.
