I installed the KN RK-3909-1 Intake Kit onto my 04 FXSTS Softail just recently and found that it made an impressive power improvement over the stock filter /intake plate - the machine has now got serious attitude. Installation was straight forward, although make sure that you insert the velocity stack base through the intake plate body - I didn't think that this was very clear in the instructions, but a few minutes just looking at the parts, and everything became clear. I am still on my first tank of gas, so I don't have any MPG data since fitting the kit - I expect that the MPG figure may have dropped a little, but that is a small penalty considering the performance gain achieved. Highly recommended mod and [EO'd] legal 50+ States including California.
