MBQUART PVL268 6 x 8-Inch 2-Way Component/Convertible Coaxial Speaker Review

I bought these speakers to replace the factory 6x8's in my 2010 F250 Crew. Great sound compared to the OEM speakers that were in the truck. Silk dome tweeters have a great sound, and the ability to mount them as coax speakers with an external quality crossover is a real plus. I'm really pleased with them overall. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I am not currently using an external amplifier, they're powered by the Ford Non-Nav CD player, and sound great.

There are a few little nits with this set that are worth mention. The tweeters are VERY bright (loud) so installing them at -3db might be a good starting point for many. The stickers on the magnet that indicate speaker connections, on my kit at least, were mismarked. There was a little addendum in the box, and if you do your own install it's obvious, but it's worth mention. Additionally the tweeters have spade plugs on the end of the tweeter wires that are too big to fit through the posts you use if you mount them as coaxial speakers. So you have to cut them off in order to thread the wires through. Worth further mention is that the little spade connectors on the tweeter wires have no matching spade connectors in the box, or on the crossover for that matter....so you'll be cutting them off anyways most likely. There are no wires in the box for the woofer -> Crossover.

So 4/5, Great sound, relatively easy install, great price. -1 star for all the little time wasters like mismarked connection stickers, odd spade connectors on the tweeter wires, etc.
