Baron Custom Accessories Kickback Riser BA-7410-U Review
These risers brought the handlebars of my 2002 VStar up and back a couple inches each way. The new position was just enough to eliminate the tension between my shoulder blades and in my neck during longer rides. They install pretty easily, but I did have a couple of small issues that I didn't find reference to anywhere else, so I'll list them here for those interested. Also, the only reason I gave this product 4 stars as opposed to 5 was the fact that my brake line is a little tighter than I would like, despite claims that you will not to swap your stock lines/cables with longer versions.Being a pretty hands on guy, but with very limited experience working on motorcycles, there are a couple of things that anyone looking to put these on their bike (at least on a vstar, not sure about other motorcycles) should know. First, I'm not one to force things when I'm not sure how they come apart. That said, the stock risers were TIGHT in the triple tree, and I was not sure how to get them out. Even after removing the bolts from underneath, they wouldn't budge. The instructions just said "remove." I ended up putting the tops of the riser clamps back on, then twisting each one by inserting a ratchet handle wrapped in a towel through the clamps. That seemed to loosed them up and they did, ultimately, end up just pulling out. The second thing was removal of the factory wire guide under the triple tree. They recommend removal of this piece to free up more slack in your cables. In my case, it was definitely mandatory. Unfortunately, there seemed to be only two ways to get this done. Either disconnect all the cables and pull them through, or cut the metal to allow the wires to pull free without freeing one end. I opted to cut the metal with a dremmel tool, and it was precarious at best. There is a lot going on under there, and cutting through a cable or nicking your headlight are real possibilities if you're not really careful.
Overall, I recommend this product to anyone looking for a little more comfort on their cruiser. It doesn't make a large difference in the look of the bike, but for about a hundred bucks, it makes a world of difference in relaxing your tight neck and shoulder muscles.
