JX500/1 - JL Audio Monoblock 500W JX Series Full Range Amplifier Review

I bought this JX500/1 and paired it up with a 12w3v3-2, I have it straight hooked up + to positive and - to negative from amp to sub. My settings are, Filter Freq. 60 (Hz), Input Sen. 3/4, Bass Boost +6. It's in a ported box with a long rectangle port, I got it off Amazon.

Don't get me wrong it bangs and sounds clean & distortion free, but the amp gets way to hot way to fast, it hasn't shut down on me or gone in protection mode it just to damn hot in my opinion to running like that. I've read a lot of reviews that this amp does that and now just found out JL Audio came out with a new amp called JX500/1D. I dunno I might try and return it.

Update: It's the beginning of November 2012 and this amp has been pushing strong with no problems what so ever! I updated to 5 stars after my first 3 stars. Great amp I would recommend to a friend. FYI: My one JL Audio 12w3v3-2 still slams as clean as it did on day one.
