Curt Manufacturing 13550 Class III Receiver Review

This unit was PERFECT for my needs. I needed to carry an Allen 555RR Bike Rack. I didn't need to tow and don't plan on needing to tow BUT the 5-bike rack required a 2" hitch. I've used 2" to 1.25" adaptors in the past BUT there was a lot of sway. That wasn't an option in my current situation.

I sprayed some WD40 on the six original hitch bolts. I used a steel bristle brush to get the WD40 in the bolt heads. I waited about 15-minutes and then used a long handled ratchet with an 18mm socket and had all six bolts out within about 5-10 minutes.

I had two neighbors (poor suckers) hold the hitch while we got the six original bolts back in. (We didn't use the bolts from Curt as I had read they might be too short.) We then used a jack to keep the hitch tight and in position while we finished off the ratcheting.

The hitch worked perfect. The money I didn't spend on the installation paid for a lot of my bike rack :)
